Heroes
So I was bad and not blogging, then sick and not blogging… ok… here is a way to make up for it….
I flew to Boston on Wednesday… I am here to visit Filthy Fluno and attend his gallery opening - plug: CounterpArt Gallery in Lowell MA. Going to be a blast… I came in early… Wed nite so that I could see Cylindrian Rutabaga play in the city. It was a cool little bar literally on the border of the Somerville and Cambridge (the building is split down the middle…. so funny!) anyway…
Watching Cyl play, always puts me in a zone. It is of Awe, Love, Amazement and Admiration. Cyl is a hero for me. In this dark bar of locals and SLerrs that transported not Teleported into the place she had us captured. The locals were uninterested at first… I watched them, probably use to watching artists come and go, this little Georgia Peach gets on the stage and says “I am gonna get a little redneck on ya’all” and starts strumming and singing… you see the locals looking out of the corner of their eyes - peeking at the peach. The SL’ers already love her, know her music, know the place that she takes them from their computer and the joy of seeing her in flesh and blood.
She belts out a few more songs…. the local bar flies (including the bartender) are now sitting a watching her… they are getting into it… feeling a bit of her magic that effects us.
And then… something happened… she became magical. She closed her eyes and I believe that she forgot about us. She went into herself and her music. She melded with her guitar, her sound, her thoughts and maybe memories? I don’t know… but she blended and was perfect.
Wow I wrote more than I thought I would about it… but the point. Cylindrian is truly a hero to me. I admire who she is.
It made me think about heroes. Right there and then. They do not have to be warriors, great people of the world, ball players, movie stars, they do not have to be lifelong achievers or greatness through history. They can be small, sweet and fragile. I have so many and all of them give me a star, a sparkle, a glimmer of my personal greatness and power, and I want to thank them all. This is for the Grace of light. I want to explore my other heroes in the next few posts…
Hugs and poofs
